We'll Take Care of That
Within 30 minutes of Wayne County Board of Canvassers voting to certify the 2020 election, Donald Trump called the two Republican members promising them attorneys if they refused to sign the official documents.
16 people have already been charged in Michigan for signing paperwork falsely asserting that Trump had won the state in 2020. Now a tape has surfaced of Trump pressuring two Republican members of the Wayne County Board of Canvassers to not sign the official documents as is required by law. Also on the call, Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel is heard saying they would look ""terrible"" if they signed the papers and that ""we will get you attorneys."" To which Trump added: ""We'll take care of that."
Colorado Disqualifies Trump for Insurrection
The Colorado Supreme Court determined that the “undisputed” evidence “established that President Trump engaged in insurrection,” and therefore “is disqualified from holding the office of the President.”
Ignore the GOP spin and read the Colorado Supreme Court decision: "We concluded that the foregoing evidence, the great bulk of which was undisputed at trial, established that President Trump engaged in insurrection." As result the Court ruled that, "Trump is disqualified from holding the office of Present under Section Three of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States. Because he is disqualified, it would be a wrongful act under the Election Code for the Colorado Secretary of State to list him as a candidate on the presidential primary ballot.”
Trump and Putin Sitting in a Tree
GOP leaders defend Donald Trump who continues his very public bromance with the most ruthless, hateful dictators around the world.
Trump continues to blame immigrants for "poisoning the blood of our country" and in the same breath praises ruthless dictators such as Vladamir Putin, Xi Jinping and Kim Jong Un as ""brilliant"" and "strong leaders" who are "very fond" of him. Former GOP Gov. Chris Christie blasts Republicans for their silence and called Trump "Disgusting," adding “He’s becoming crazier. And now he’s citing Vladimir Putin as a character witness.”
Justice Delayed is Justice Denied
Donald Trump's legal strategy is to delay criminal and civil responsibility beyond the 2024 elections by dragging out lower court rulings that have rejected his dubious claims of presidential immunity.
Special Prosecutor Jack Smith has asked the Supreme Court to follow their own precedent established 50 years ago in an 8-0 ruling on United States v. Nixon (1974) and grant an expedited hearing on Trump’s claim of ""absolute immunity."" Unfortunately, this is the same Supreme Court that ignored 50 years of precedent when they overturned Roe v. Wade. As MLK wrote 60 years ago in his landmark Letter from Birmingham Jail, ""justice too long delayed is justice denied.
The Orange Jesus
Liz Cheney exposes the cynical hypocrisy of the Republican Party leadership for lying to the public about 2020 election fraud knowing “it was a farce” and “another public display of fealty to Donald Trump.”
In "Oath and Honor," Liz Cheney denounces Republican leaders as “enablers and collaborators” to the “the most dangerous man ever to inhabit the Oval Office.” Cheney describes congressional GOP members being pressured to sign electoral vote objection sheets to appease Trump's damaged ego. Just before signing, GOP Congressman Mark Green complained under his breath, "The things we do for the Orange Jesus.”
We Are Just Going to Stay in Power
Trump's former attorney testified under oath that Trump intended to stay in the White House even after the Supreme Court rejected Trump's election challenges.
Jenna Ellis was one of Trump’s top coup attorneys who agreed to testify against her former boss. In leaked video testimony, Ellis relates how Dan Scavino, Trump’s former White House Deputy Chief of Staff, boasted that Trump had no intention of leaving power—even after exhausting all legal challenges. According to Ellis’s sworn testimony, Scavino told her at a White House holiday party that, “The boss is not going to leave under any circumstances. We are just going to stay in power.”
Echos of Hitler and Mussolini
Trump and his far right supporters are following the fascist playbook by promising to "root out the communists, Marxists, fascists and the radical left thugs that live like vermin within the confines of our country.”
Historians are warning that Trump describing his political enemies as "vermin", and promising the mass deportation of immigrants he blames for “poisoning the blood of our country" is the same language used by Mussolini and Hitler to dehumanize and kill millions of people. Jason Stanley, Yale expert on facism and propaganda, called Trump's rhetoric "textbook Mein Kampf." Political Scientist Brian Klaas said “we are sleepwalking towards authoritarianism," and Presidential historian Jon Meacham warned that Trump is walking "through the door toward the most ghastly kinds of crimes.”
Voters Reject MAGA Extremism - Again!
Trump's Republican Party keeps losing elections as voters—especially women—reject GOP candidates and make protecting reproductive health a top priority.
When the Supreme Court overturned 50 years of reproductive freedom, it was a wake up call for voters that Trump, MAGA extremism, and the GOP culture war is a threat to everyone. Voters handed Trump's GOP yet another embarrassing loss, including passing reproductive rights in Ohio and rejecting anti-abortion candidates across the country. Democrats won key elections including the Governor’s race in Kentucky, securing majorities in the Virginia statehouse, and electing the first woman mayor of Philadelphia.
This Is Not a Political Rally
Donald Trump was unable to answer the basic questions at the heart of his $250 Million fraud trial, so instead he tried to bully the judge and prosecutors.
Testifying under oath, Trump evaded directly answering questions and lashed out angrily at court proceedings repeating his campaign lies and conspiracy theories. Without offering evidence, Trump boasted he was worth “billions more” than the financial statements. From the witness stand, Trump shockingly called the judge biased and the state attorney general a “fraud” and “political hack.” A frustrated Judge Engoron asked Trump’s attorneys, “can you control your client” and warned Trump, “this is not a political rally.”
Republicans: Defund the IRS
House Republicans reveal their top legislative priority: protecting wealthy tax cheats by gutting funding for IRS enforcement.
Apparently House Republicans are blind to irony. In the same week that Trump and his family are testifying in court for committing financial fraud, House Republicans announce a plan to protect the wealthiest tax cheats by cutting $14 billion in funding for IRS enforcement, in order to pay for aid to Israel. Defunding the IRS will add billions to the federal budget by allowing unscrupulous corporations and wealthy individuals to defraud the American people by not paying their fair share of taxes.
MAGA Mike XXL
With Trump's blessing, every Republican member of the House voted to elect an election denying, White Christian Nationalist culture warrior as Speaker of the House.
Mike Johnson's election as Speaker of the House is a victory for Trump and his MAGA warriors who threw the House in chaos and dysfunction for 3 weeks by blocking any nominee who voted to certify the 2020 election. When candidate Johnson first ran for the House in 2016 he bragged, "I was called to the legal ministry and I’ve been out on the front lines of the culture war.” As an elected member of the House, Johnson led House efforts to overturn the 2020 election, criminalize abortion, deny climate change, demonize immigrants, and attack the LGBTQ+ community.
Trump's Chief of Staff Granted Immunity
Mark Meadows joins a growing list of Trump's inner circle and attorneys that are cooperating with state and federal prosecutors to save themselves.
ABC News reports that Trump's former Chief of Staff, Mark Meadows, has been cooperating with federal prosecutors and was granted immunity to testify under oath. Meadows helped Trump spread the Big Lie of election fraud and was with Trump during the January 6 Attack on the Capitol. Although not charged in federal court, Meadows has been indicted as Trump's co-conspirator for violating the Georgia RICO act and Solicitation of Violation of Oath by a Public Officer.
Trump's Dominoes Are Falling
Jenna Ellis is the 3rd of Donald Trump's former attorneys to cut a plea deal with Georgia prosecutors to testify against Trump and his co-conspirators for attempting to overturn the 2020 election.
Donald Trump is infamous for throwing his supporters under the bus, so it is not surprising that his former attorneys are rushing to cut plea deals to testify against him. Last week, two of Trump's lawyers, Kenneth Chesebro and Sidney Powell pleaded guilty and agreed to testify against Trump in the Georgia RICO election conspiracy. This week, Jenna Ellis became Trump's 3rd attorney that was a member of his "truly great team" promoting election lies to cut a deal with state prosecutors. As Trump's dominoes start to fall, the only question is who's next.
2nd Trump Coup Attorney Pleads Guilty
The architect of Trump's fake elector plot pleads guilty to a felony "Conspiracy to Commit Filing False Documents" and agrees to testify against Trump and his co-conspirators.
Trump's co-defendants are starting to fall like dominos in Fulton County. Kenneth Chesebro is the second Trump coup attorney to accept a plea deal that requires him to testify against Trump and the other RICO co-conspirators charged in the Georgia election fraud trial. Chesebro admitted that he conspired with Donald Trump and his attorneys Rudy Giuliani and John Eastman to put forward "fake electors" in an illegal attempt to overturn the 2020 election.
The Kraken Flips on Trump
Trump's Coup attorney Sidney Powell, who once vowed to "Release the Kraken", pleads guilty to six charges and agrees to testify against Trump and his co-defendants in the Georgia RICO and election fraud trial.
With Rudy Guiliani and Mike Flynn, Sidney Powell was part of “Team Crazy” that promoted unproven election conspiracy theories. At the infamous December 18, 2020 White House meeting, Team Crazy pushed Trump to sign an executive order authorizing the military to seize voting machines and appoint Powell as special counsel. At that meeting, Trump verbally agreed to appoint Powell saying, “I’m naming her that and I’m giving her security clearance.” One hour later Trump tweeted “Big protest in D.C. on January 6th. Be there, will be wild.”
A Danger to the Administration of Justice
A federal judge imposed a gag order to prevent Trump from publicly attacking witnesses, court staff, prosecutors and their families.
Donald Trump is facing 4 criminal indictments for fraud, stealing classified documents, election interference, and racketeering. In response, Trump has publicly attacked judges, criminal prosecutors, and their families using violent and frequently racist language. Now a second judge has issued a gag order against Trump to prevent "a pre-trial smear campaign" that “presents a danger to the administration of justice.”
Shame on You, Donald
Trump comes under bipartisan condemnation for praising the rightwing militia group Hezbollah as "very smart," as the Israel-Hamas war puts millions of innocent civilians at risk and threatens to engulf the entire Middle East.
Donald Trump has a long history of complimenting rightwing militia groups, dictators, and strongmen who use violence to intimidate and kill innocent people. Trump praised neo-Nazis as "very fine people," complimented Vladimir Putin as a "genius" and "savvy," and called Kim Jong Un "very honorable." Trump's most recent praise of Hezbollah has enraged both Democrats and Republicans, including Governor Asa Hutchinson of Arkansas, who posted “Shame on you, Donald. Your constant compliments to dictators, terrorist groups, and evil-doers are beneath the office you seek.”
Republican Chaos Is a Threat to Everyone
Republican infighting has paralyzed the House, which is unable to authorize aid for Israel and Ukraine without first electing a Speaker.
We are in a worldwide crisis and Republicans are failing to act. Hamas terrorists murdered over 1,000 Jews in the deadliest attack since the Holocaust. Ukraine is fighting for survival against Russian invaders in the largest European land war since WWII. And the US government will shut down in 37 days without passing a budget. All of this is on hold because House Republicans are unable to elect a Speaker and a single GOP Senator is undermining military readiness by blocking more than 300 promotions.
A Cornered Rat
As Trump's legal problems are closing in on him, he has escalated his violent threats against court officers, reporters, and his political opponents.
Winston Churchill warned of desperate men, saying, "Even a cornered rat is dangerous." Recent court rulings have exposed Trump as a liar and fraud. In response, Trump has lashed out with increasingly violent threats, including calling for the execution of General Milley. Trump's claims of persecution have resulted in death threats against judges, criminal prosecutors and the FBI. Trump's former chief of staff, John Kelly recently warned that Trump is "A person that has nothing but contempt for our democratic institutions, our Constitution, and the rule of law."
The Republican Civil War
Kevin McCarthy is removed as House speaker by MAGA extremists who are determined to follow Trump's orders to shut down the government.
This is the first time in US history that the speaker of the House has been removed from office. McCarthy angered members of both parties, who accused the speaker of being untrustworthy. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries called out House Republicans for embracing “chaos, dysfunction and extremism,” and said that it is the "the responsibility of the GOP members to end the House Republican Civil War."
