The Trump Organization was notified that a long-running civil investigation has been expanded to include a criminal probe. Fabien Levy, spokesperson for the New York attorney general said, “We are now actively investigating the Trump Organization in a criminal capacity, along with the Manhattan DA.” Trump and the Trump Organization are facing multiple civil and criminal investigations that include tax evasion and banking fraud.
Why McCarthy Opposes January 6th Commission
House Minority Leader Keven McCarthy is opposing the bipartisan January 6th commission because he is fearful of testifying under oath about Trump’s role in the insurrection. Despite overwhelming video evidence, Republicans are attempting to rewrite history and hide their own complicity in supporting Trump’s Big Lie that inspired the attack on the Capitol by white supremacists and insurrectionists to overturn the election.
Tentative Deal on January 6th Commission
The House Homeland Security Committee has reached a deal for a January 6th Commission to investigate the deadly insurrection of the US. Capitol. Republicans have blocked the proposed commission for months trying to expand the investigation to include right wing conspiracy theories about Antifa and Black Lives Matter. The January 6th Commission still faces significant obstacles in the Senate where McConnell has pledged to block it.
Republicans Cancel Cheney For Not Lying
The Night before House Republicans voted to remove Rep. Liz Cheney from her leadership position, House Republicans walked out of Congress leaving Cheney to read her prepared statement to a mostly empty House. Cheney reminded her GOP colleagues that Trump “provoked a violent attack” on the Capitol “in an effort to steal the election” and that he is a threat to our democracy.
Republicans Purge Leaders for Speaking Truth
The Republican Party is purging anyone who refuses to repeat Trump’s Big Lie of election fraud. This includes the removal of Rep. Liz Cheney as the No. 3 House Republican in favor of a Trump loyalist who voted to overturn the election. Trump’s grip on the GOP is absolute. Cheney stood by Trump for 4-years is betting her political future on a Trump backlash.
Republicans Raise Millions on Racist Lies
Since losing the election, Donald Trump and Republicans have used deceptive fundraising strategies to target small dollar donors in order to raise millions in PAC donations on the basis of election fraud and conspiracy theories. Following the violent insurrection of the capitol, Trump still left office with tens of millions of dollars raised for his new Save America PAC.
Republicans Defend Trump for Incitement of Insurrection
Republican leaders and conservative media attempt to rewrite history and defend Trump’s failed January 6th insurrection despite the overwhelming video and photo evidence. Repeating the lies of voter fraud and freedom of speech, the vast majority of Republicans side with Trump and either vote against impeachment in the House or for acquittal in the Senate.
Trump Falsely Claims Election Victory
As election results are still being counted, Trump goes on TV to claim victory and repeats baseless voter fraud lies tweeting, “We are up BIG, but they are trying to STEAL the Election. We will never let them do it.” Since April of 2020, Trump has had over 150 false claims of fraudulent ballots or the alleged dangers of mail-in voting. His lies are repeated by rightwing media and his political allies.

Feeling threatened by the expected rise of mail-in votes due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Trump falsely claimed that the system is “rigged” and that it “doesn’t work out well for Republicans”. Trump and GOP leaders double down on lies about voter fraud to cast doubt on the authenticity of mail-in voting and even take steps to defund the USPS.
Republicans Defend Trump’s Abuse of Power
The Trump Presidency is defined by his lies, corruption, and his abuse of power. Anyone perceived to be disloyal to the president is publicly attacked and even fired by tweet. Trump’s inner circle is rocked by criminal indictments and convictions.
