The California recall is a preview of the 2022 midterm elections: Trumpism is still the dominating political issue for voters in both parties.
Polling last month showed CA Governor Gavin Newsom in a tight election to defeat his recall. Then in an all hands-on-deck effort, Democrats shifted the focus to Trumpism and Republican extremism. Early voting suggests the strategy is working and this is how Democrats can mobilize the base in the 2022 midterm elections.

Former President Trump and Republicans are falsely claiming that widespread voter fraud may keep them from winning California’s gubernatorial recall election on Tuesday, pushing conspiracy theories to dismiss why Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom has pulled ahead in the polls.
