GOP Extremists Target Schools
The Republican leadership and rightwing media are using Covid and Critical Race Theory as a political strategy to rally Trump’s base, while students and educators pay the price.
The GOP Culture War is creating havoc in our public schools with angry protests and threats of violence against school board members, teachers, and even students. In school districts across the country, teachers fear retaliation for using books about racism, slavery, and even the Holocaust.

“Teachers are literally afraid that we’re going to be punished for having books in our classes,” an elementary school teacher said. “There are no children’s books that show the ‘opposing perspective’ of the Holocaust or the ‘opposing perspective’ of slavery. Are we supposed to get rid of all of the books on those subjects?”
Jennifer Jenkins, a school board member of Brevard County reveals the amount she receives from rightwing extremists. The extent of the harassment ranges from being followed around, to weapons being brandished outside her home; from false Child Protective Services claims, to being told to "beg for mercy."
